D&D / TTRPG One-Shots

Thursday, 27 April 2023 @ 19:30

Location: Visserstraat 18-A, 5612 BT Eindhoven

Every Thursday evening we host a One-Shot event. One-Shots are D&D or other TTRPG adventures that are played in a single session.

Weekly we try to get 5 a 6 GM's to run a table in D&D or other TTRPG rulesets and at different playing levels. It really doesn't matter if you are a beginner or expert player. All people are welcome. Our tables run in dutch and/or english (as we have a big expat community in the region in and around Eindhoven.)

Entrance fee for playing is 3.50 euro + 1.50 euro for consumption credit.

Please check out our socials for more information about the D&D and TTRPG One-Shots

You are hungry and looking for work, so you decide to solve both issues in one place. A brisk walk brings you to The Farting Dragon, the largest pub in town. The setting sun enters with you when you open the door, but it was streaming through the windows already, bathing the entire room in red light. A 5-tortle mariachi band is on stage, playing Puttin' on the Ritz. You tell the barkeep you are looking for work, and he informs you that he is expecting someone soon that has been hiring every party of adventurers he can find, desperately looking for something. You decide to eat while you wait. The special is smoked pork, boiled cabbage, roasted potatoes and brown ale. It smells and tastes delicious, but the smell of cabbage is very strong and cloying.

After about an hour of waiting, a brown-skinned man wearing a beautiful green suede tunic enters the pub and looks around. The keep catches the newcomer's eye and tilts his head towards your table. The man walks over and sits down without asking permission. He says, “I have recently learned of a creature with the power to fluster and provoke on an epic scale. It is said to frequent a labyrinth in another realm. If you bring me this creature alive, I will give you one thousand gold pieces. Are you in?”

Scenario: You are investigating a sinister string of murders and thefts. All the clues have pointed you towards the Portsmouth Harbor and you boarded the ferry to the Isle of Wight. It seems you've fallen asleep in the passenger lounge and suddenly you wake up: the engines have stopped...

SINISTER RPG System.

Background.
United Kingdom around the year 1920. All character are adults at this time. They have started to investigate after experiencing something sinister and unexplainable.
The adventure starts here. In a Campaign setting the character background story needs to be written, in a Scenario not needed.

Dice system.
To succeed at anything, one needs to throw a 5 or 6 on a normal (d6) die. How many dice a player may throw is up to the appropriate skill or attribute.

Stat points.
Every character must allocate 21 points over 2 Stats, called Life and Sanity. Damage to the body reduces Life and mental damage reduces Sanity.
At the moment a Stat reaches 3 or lower, a success roll must be rolled (number of dice same as the remaining Stat points) or the character goes unconscious.
Zero means either death or insanity.

Attributes.
There are only two Attributes, Physical and Mental. A total of 5 points can be allocated to these Attributes.
Skills and other checks for succes may throw a number of dice equal to the points for the appropriate Attribute.

Characters.
Every character has:
- Age between 18 and 38
- Can read and write in English language
- Has the skill of Investigation (Level 1)
- Has 2 other skills of choice (Level 1)
- Gets a free skill from the Game Master (Level 1) (skills can be learned)
- The GM can determine a (secret/special) Talent (talents cannot be learned)
- Character description, length, eye/hair color and complexion, name, profession, etc.
- Some normal stuff carried (GM needs to approve).

Skills.
Skills have 3 experience levels: L0, L1 or L2.

L0: Success may be attempted any time, by throwing 1d6, 1 means some disaster happens.
L1: Throw number of d6 according to the appropriate Attribute.
L2: Same as L1, but +1 on every die.

Magic.
This is a special skill chosen at cost of 2 skills. However the player now may chose 3 categories of Magic, the GM will provide one Spell from every category. These can be cast by Success at Level 1 (Mental).
Casting takes energy/power from the character, this is represented by ½ d6 damage (allocation to Stats by player choice) per spell cast.

Spell Categories are: Water/Fire/Air/Earth/Life/Death/Objects/Illusion/Alchemy/Occult/Scrying

Opponents.
Opponents have a level 1-10, the Biggest Boss (L10) creature can do 10 damage in one blow!
Note: Regular humans are weaker than experienced investigator characters, they get extra damage when hit.
